Advanced Furniture Painting is designed to help you move beyond the basics and start making intentional choices that elevate your work. We’ll focus on the details that make a piece feel complete: layered finishes, thoughtful hardware, texture, and the subtle techniques that give furniture character and depth.

Join author, blogger, and DIY expert Lisa Silfwerbrand of Recreated Designs for a hands-on, small-group class where you’ll explore advanced techniques in a supportive, creative environment.

• You’ve already painted furniture and want more refined results
• You want to add depth, texture, and character to your pieces
• You’re ready to experiment with advanced techniques confidently

This is not a beginner class — some painting experience is recommended.

What you’ll learn (and practice hands-on):

Hardware Details That Make a Difference
• How to safely remove existing hardware
• How to update hardware using metallic paint
• When and how to replace hardware for a new look
• How to fill previous holes cleanly and seamlessly

Advanced Painting Techniques
• How to layer paint using resists (wax and hemp oil)
• Creating a paint wash for soft, aged finishes
• Adding texture and distressing with intention

Working with Milk Paint
• How to mix and apply milk paint
• Creating smooth finishes or chippy, aged looks
• How to properly finish and protect milk-painted pieces

During the workshop, you’ll work on sample boards, experimenting with different paints and techniques so you can practice freely and see how each method behaves. You’ll take your samples home as a reference for future projects.
