New winter 2026 dates now available!

A hands-on, confidence-building introduction to painting furniture (7 seats only)

Have a piece of furniture at home you’ve been meaning to paint but you’re unsure where to start, worried about making mistakes, or overwhelmed by all the products?

This class is designed to take the guesswork out of furniture painting so you can leave feeling confident, capable, and excited to start your first (or next) project.

Join author, blogger, and DIY expert Lisa Silfwerbrand of Recreated Designs for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to furniture painting basics. This is a small-group class where questions are encouraged and guidance is personal.

In just two hours, you’ll learn the foundations that make painting furniture feel approachable instead of intimidating.

This class is for you if:

• You’ve never painted furniture before (or tried once and didn’t love the results)
• You’re confused by sanding, prep, or product choices
• You want hands-on guidance instead of YouTube overwhelm
• You want your painted pieces to look finished and intentional — not “DIY gone wrong”

No experience needed.

What you’ll learn (and practice hands-on):

Prepping Your Piece
• How to properly clean furniture before painting
• When to sand, when not to, and why it matters
• What to do with hardware
• How to choose the right brush for the job

Painting Basics That Actually Matter
• How to choose the right paint for your project
(Annie Sloan Chalk Paint vs Fusion Mineral Paint)
• How to apply paint for smooth, even results
• When to paint in one direction vs multiple directions

Finishing & Protecting Your Work
• Choosing the right topcoat: wax vs hemp oil
• When and where to apply sealers
• How to protect your finish so it lasts

During the workshop, you’ll paint sample boards using different paints and products so you can see and feel the differences for yourself. You’ll take your samples home as a reference for future projects.

Important details:

• 2-hour in-person workshop
• Limited to 7 participants for personalized instruction
• Level 1 — suitable for complete beginners
• All supplies and materials included

Cost: $87
