Makeover Magic: The Complete Upcycling Workshop

This full-day immersive workshop is designed for creatives who want to transform old, outdated pieces into beautiful, one-of-a-kind treasures. Whether you're upcycling for personal use, resale, or fun, this class will teach you professional techniques to elevate your projects. 

Join author, blogger, and DIY expert Lisa Silfwerbrand from Recreated Designs for this all-day intensive on upcycling. 

To practice the upcycling techniques you will learn today, please bring a table lamp of your choosing that you would like to recreate. You can bring one from home or find a thrifted piece that appeals to you. Feel free to bring the shade with you but we will be focusing on recreating the base. 

This 4.5-hour hands-on class will cover...

⭐ Upcycling Basics - learn to choose the right pieces (furniture and home decor) and where to find them

⭐ Material Identification - learn how to identify solid wood, laminate, veneer, and a variety of other surfaces

⭐ Design Planning - plan the recreation of your lamp and how to use this process for other furniture and home decor

⭐ Surface Prep & Repair - cleaning & stripping old finishes, fix cracks, scratches, and missing veneer, proper sanding and priming techniques

⭐ Faux Finishes - learn how to create crackle, rust, and patina (aged) finishes  

⭐ Lamp Recreation - recreate your lamp during the afternoon with the techniques you have learned. Use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint or Fusion Mineral paint to achieve a new look based on your design ideas. 

To encourage your upcycling journey, you will also receive a beginners upcycling kit to take home with that includes: 

2 Fusion Mineral Paint Samples in the colours of your choice
sanding sponge
1" synthetic paint brush

This all-day class also includes a light charcuterie lunch to give participants a chance to chat, exchange ideas, and ask additional questions. (please let us know in the notes if you have any dietary restrictions)

Cost is $225 + tax.  All supplies and lunch included (except the lamp you will bring)

Cancellation Policy - Due to the prep required and the very limited spaces for this class, any cancellations or reschedules done within 48 hours of the class date will result in a $50 fee. Any no-shows will result in a fee equal to the class fee ($225). Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you soon!
